Richardson is pleased to announce a special edition archival set of Richardson Magazine, commemorating over two decades of provocation and radical independent publishing.

Launched in 1998 with A1, the first Richardson Magazine featured covergirl Jenna Jameson in a photoshoot by renowned fashion photographer Glen Luchford. Richardson A1 published erotic works from names including Richard Prince, Stewart Home, and Harmony Korine alongside vintage hardcore imagery. Of A1, The Face wrote: “Is it art? Is it porn? It’s Richardson Magazine, and it’s both.”

In the years since, Richardson Magazine has continued exploring sexuality and its place in our evolving culture. Born from editor-in-chief Andrew Richardson’s fascination with the unspoken influence of sex, Richardson Magazine is, in his words, driven by “sexual juxtaposition — the erotic attack.”/

Existing within the tradition of publications like the avant-garde Italian counterculture magazine Frigidaire, Richardson combines journalism, essays, fiction, interviews, visual art, and photography into what Rolling Stone described as "high class, smarter smut for those who care." Contributors have included Nobuyoshi Araki, Larry Clark, Bret Easton Ellis, Valie Export, Mario Sorrenti, Steven Klein, Glenn Ligon, Jenny Saville, Kara Walker, and Christopher Wool.

Each issue of Richardson Magazine centers around a different theme: feminism, misogyny, love, death, America, even gardening, through the lens of sexuality. Always avoiding the clichés of fashion and porn magazines, Richardson is an unclassifiable publication. It’s a blend of high art and porn that subverts either label. As art dealer and publisher Andrew Roth describes, Richardson Magazine is a “fine radical publication exploring art, sex, and culture.”

This limited edition release includes the first ten issues of Richardson Magazine, signed by their iconic cover stars: Jenna Jameson, Alisha Klass, Tera Patrick, Sasha Grey, Stoya, Belladonna, Tori Black, Blac Chyna, Kim Kardashian, and Dominique Silver aka Natassia Dreams.

Each magazine set is presented in two custom archival cases. Handmade by Sjoerd Hofstra of Hofstra Book Arts in New York, the marbled boxes are finished with silver embossed leather spines.
